I don't see how my criticism "doesn't hold much weight" because I don't like Apple's products. But whatever...

You're wife is right about that especially in light of the fact that MadTV did a skit about it quite some time ago.

Reasonable and pricing aren't synonymous in Apple's world. You can't even read a book with it while listening to music at the same time.

I'll never deny that Apple's products are well built and have aesthetic appeal out the ying yang, and I actually had great interest in a device like this - but 800 bucks for a 64GB iPod Touch and then 30 bucks per month for a data plan with ATT. I've got better things to spend my money on... but I am sure the Starbucks crowd will likely jump on board.

I agree about the 3G machine, makes no sense to have to pay that much per month unless you live in airports. I was really talking about 500 bucks being reasonable for the wifi machine. If the Kindle is around 250 and that is the target market then I do think 500 for one with a color touch screen and the apps is reasonable.

I see your point. But 16GB? That's pretty weak.

At least the data plan is month-to-month w/ no cancel fees.

Not sure if you checked out the presentation yesterday but Mr. Jobs did compare it directly to the netbook...

"Browsing the web. Doing email. Enjoying and sharing pics. Watching videos. Enjoying music. Playing games. Reading ebooks.

If there's going to be a third category, it has to be better at these tasks -- otherwise it has no reason for being.

Now some people thought that was a netbook -- the problem is that netbooks aren't better than anything!"

Steve got himself a big fat case of smug!

Nothing new there.
